The Dallas Cowboys go into free agency with many needs. Most glaring are wide receiver, cornerback and nose tackle. It's not just obvious to everyone on the outside, but from inside as well.

WR CeeDee Lamb is making the case to bring in more weapons for the offense. Leading the way for the Cowboys to vent their frustrations without being frustrated. For the second year in a row.

It doesn't just stop on offense. On the defensive side of the ball, CB Trevon Diggs and LB Micah Parsons heavily courted Odell Beckham Jr to come to the Cowboys. Now with the offseason ready to take off, Parsons is back on the recruiting trail.

This time around, vocalizing his desire for rival Washington Commander DT Daron Payne. Speaking on ProFootballTalk about the need for more "big bodies" in the middle with there being "too many rushers".

Daron Payne has been heavily linked to the Dallas Cowboys and it's easy to see why. He's one of the best pass rush/run stuffing nose tackles in the game. Continuing to make life havoc on opposing QBs and clog running lanes from the inside.

Finishing his 2022 Pro Bowl campaign with 11.5 sacks and 18 tackles for loss in his most prolific season to date.

Parsons didn't just stop there. Making his offseason wish list look a lot like what many believe the Cowboys should do. Including:

  • Another edge rusher
  • A big body corner back
  • Re-sign LB Leighton Vander Esch
  • A wide receiver

It's uncertain if Washington will re-sign Payne at the moment. Their highest-price free agent is G Wes Schweitzer, valued at around $14 million per year.

While nose tackle is very much a need with both Carlos Watkins and Johnathan Hankins set to hit free agency, the Cowboys history is that nose tackle is a position they don't overpay for.

Preferring to sign athletic 3-technique tackles who can rush the passer. Opting for cheap rotational players to stuff the run in the A-gap. Even though Payne is one of the best tackles in the game, being effective as a nose and 3-gap player. As a pass rusher and run stuffer, he is likely outside the Cowboys price range.

Ultimately, the point from Parsons is still valid. The Dallas Cowboys have glaring needs that even the players are no longer afraid to make it known just how obvious they are.

Time will tell to see how many of Parsons' desires get fulfilled.
