The Dallas Cowboys could end up making a splash in free agency before free agency even officially beings.

According to a report from ESPN's Ed Werder, the Cowboys are showing interest in eight-time Pro-Bowl linebacker Bobby Wagner.

Wagner was released this week by the Seattle Seahawks after spending the first 10 seasons of his career with the organization.

The former Utah State standout said Seattle didn't even let him know they were releasing him.

Dallas could certainly use another linebacker this offseason — especially with Leighton Vander Esch unlikely to return in 2022.

Wagner, who is only 31, would be a great addition to Dan Quinn's defense. And he could mentor second-year linebacker Jabril Cox, a fourth-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft out of LSU.

The Cowboys are able to talk to Wagner and sign him ahead of the legal tampering period (which begins on Monday) because he's been released from his contract this offseason.
