Florida tight end Kyle Pitts might be the most popular and most talked about non-quarterback in the 2021 NFL Draft class. Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys are one of many franchises that are reportedly "infatuated" with adding Pitts to their roster.
It seems unlikely that Pitts will fall all the way to the end of the top-10, where the Dallas Cowboys are currently slotted to draft. The Falcons, Bengals, and Dolphins are three teams that will draft ahead of Dallas and could very well select the 2020 Mackey Award winner.
There has been some — albeit minor — speculation that the Cowboys could move up for Kyle Pitts next Thursday. Pitts is such a unique prospect that maybe Jerry Jones and company believe he is worth trading valuable draft capital for.
DON'T EXPECT COWBOYS TO TRADE UP
The chances of Dallas trading up for a tight end — especially with so many other needs — were always very slim. The talk of it even being an outside possibility speaks to how special of a draft prospect that Kyle Pitts is.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported on Friday that the Dallas Cowboys are not expected to trade up from their 10th overall draft pick. Rapoport notes the Cowboys' interest in Pitts in his tweet, but that Dallas is not expected to make a move up.
Oregon offensive tackle Penei Sewell would have been another name to consider if the Cowboys were actually interest in trading up from 10. Sewell, like Pitts, is an elite-level prospect bound to help whatever team that he is drafted to immediately.
The Dallas Cowboys sit in a pretty good position as it stands right now. With at least four quarterbacks expected to inside the first nine picks, a top-level prospect could very well be right there for the taking for Dallas. A move up would not make much sense.
Dallas needs to the draft fall to them at 10th overall and then consider making other moves afterwards.
