The Dallas Cowboys are making moves ahead of the 2020 NFL season trade deadline. After dealing Everson Griffen to the Seattle Seahawks, the Cowboys tried to trade another two defensive players; CB Daryl Worley and DT Dontari Poe. However, the Cowboys will be cutting both after failing to trade any of them.

There's no surprise in knowing the Dallas Cowboys couldn't get anything in return for any of these two defensive players. Cornerback Daryl Worley played in one snap against the Washington Football Team last week after playing terrible football through the first six weeks of the season.

Dontari Poe also failed to meet expectations after not even earning a starting job in training camp. Poe is an NFL veteran who the Cowboys expected to contribute immediately, but his underperformance was clear on the field.

It's been made clear that the Dallas Cowboys are sellers ahead of this trade deadline instead of buyers. After starting the season 2-5, Mike McCarthy's staff will likely be shaking up the roster and give more playing time to younger players like Randy Gregory and Bradlee Anae.

Additionally, these moves open up cap space for the Cowboys. Keep in mind, that's not something that only impacts 2020, but also 2021. The NFL salary cap allows teams to "carry over" unused cap space over to the following year. With the NFL and NFLPA agreeing to decrease the salary cap next year due to revenues taking a hit because of the pandemic, this will be very important.

As the NFL trade deadline on November 3rd gets closer and closer, the Cowboys might not be done making moves.

Actually, many have speculated about Safety Xavier Woods. On Wednesday, Woods missed practiced but wasn't listed on the Cowboys' injury report. With Woods playing his contract year in 2020, it wouldn't be a surprise to see the 25-year-old safety on the move.

Some have even speculated about Wide Receiver Michael Gallup. Gallup is perhaps the one realistic trade candidate who could net the Cowboys a Day 2 draft pick if Dallas decides to move on.

However, Gallup's play speaks for itself. Does Mike McCarthy want to get rid of a talented WR who's under contract through 2021? After all, Dak Prescott is coming back next season, and tearing apart an elite wide receiver unit might not be the best idea.

Meanwhile, the Dallas Cowboys are getting ready to play the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday Night Football. Quarterback Ben DiNucci will likely be under center as Andy Dalton remains in the concussion protocol.
