The Dallas Cowboys have dropped three of its last four games. The only win in that stretch came against a mediocre Atlanta Falcons team that has had its fair share of struggles this season. As a result, there is a lot of panic surrounding Cowboys Nation.
To make matters worse, the Cowboys will be without head coach Mike McCarthy for Thursday night's matchup with the New Orleans Saints. McCarthy is latest member of the organization to be hit with COVID-19. Defensive coordinator Dan Quinn will take over head coaching duties this week.
Now, the Cowboys defense has a challenge on its hands. Winning in the Superdome is difficult enough. It becomes even more of a challenge when Sean Payton makes a quarterback change days before the game.
Taysom Hill steps into the starting quarterback position for the Saints' matchup with the Cowboys. Hill replaces Trevor Siemian, who has had his ups and downs over the course of the year.
Why does this matter? Because Hill is a much different — and much more dynamic player — than Siemian. Hill is known to hurt defenses with his legs and athletic ability. Siemian, on the other hand, is the complete opposite. Dallas will need to account for what Hill brings to the table as a rusher.
Fortunately, the Cowboys do have some experience playing against mobile quarterbacks. Dallas gave Eagles passer Jalen Hurts trouble all game long in a 41-21 win over Philadelphia back in September. Perhaps Quinn uses a similar game plan on Thursday.
Micah Parsons is the x-factor here. Using him as a "spy" would be smart. Regardless, there is no question that Taysom Hill provides the Dallas Cowboys a bigger challenge than Trevor Siemian.
