Yesterday, it was reported that the Dallas Cowboys were shopping three defensive players, including pass rusher Everson Griffen. Griffen was signed this August on a one-year, $6 million deal, which was considered a major steal for Dallas.

Griffen started off the season on the wrong foot. He looked out of place in Mike Nolan's defense and was contributing in the way that many expected when the Cowboys inked him to a deal. In the past two weeks, though, Griffen has played his best ball of the season and even recorded a sack on Kyle Allen versus Washington.

The Dallas Cowboys have found a suitor for Griffen.

Despite playing well as of recently, the relationship between the Cowboys and Griffen are coming to a close. On Tuesday, Ian Rapoport broke the news that the Detroit Lions are sending a sixth-round draft pick in exchange for the veteran pass rusher.

Dallas has to be happy that they are receiving some draft capital for a player that they were willing to part ways with – while also saving $3 million. The season has not gone the way that the Cowboys were wanting, so getting anything in return is a big plus.

The Athletic's Jon Machota reported that the draft pick could actually move up to a fifth-rounder, depending on how well and how much Griffen plays for Detroit. That would be even bigger news for a team that needs to hit in the 2021 draft as much as possible.

On the football field, the Cowboys will be turning to Randy Gregory to play a big role during the remainder of the season. Gregory played six snaps in week seven's loss to Washington, his first game since being reinstated in the NFL.

Dallas now holds 10 draft picks for next year's NFL Draft. As it stands now, the Cowboys would be picking inside the top-10 in the first-round and should have the opportunity to begin rebuilding the defensive side of the ball in a big way.

It will be interesting to see if Dallas is able to make any more deals before next Tuesday's trade deadline.
