The Dallas Cowboys are making big changes heading into 2023. For better or worse, they parted ways with offensive coordinator Kellen Moore and are handing Mike McCarthy the play-calling duties.

The latter part of the plan was far from official as conflicting reports suggested McCarthy taking over as the play-caller was not a done deal. But according to multiple reports out of the Senior Bowl, it's official.

In the process of letting us know if McCarthy was going to be the voice of the offense, Jerry Jones also confirmed Dallas is officially on the West Coast. At least from an offensive philosophy standpoint.

McCarthy will be installing a version of his offense based on what he did in Green Bay. The Packers ran a modernized version of the West Coast during McCarthy's tenure as Aaron Rodgers commanded one of the best passing offenses in the league.

That was far from a sure thing considering a change like that in offense means players, especially the quarterback, must adapt to a new language and new rules. But keeping Moore's offense would've made little sense.

Here's what Cowboys Nation can expect from the new scheme. Although it won't be the most gigantic of changes, it's going to be a departure from the Jason Garrett type of offense that the Cowboys have featured for over a decade.

Like the old-school West Coast offenses, the Cowboys will require accuracy and solid decision-making from Dak Prescott.

During his time in Green Bay, McCarthy gave Rodgers a lot of control at the line of scrimmage. Expect Prescott's processing (one of his biggest strengths) to be on full display every week.

McCarthy's scheme went somewhat stale in his last couple of years with the Packers as his offense failed to crack the Top 10 in scoring those two years.

The Cowboys are likely to present a refreshed version of it. Although Kellen Moore did a good job for Dallas as the OC, it was time for a change for the offense and a new mentor for Dak Prescott.
