Drew Pearson's wait finally paid off. For far too long, the Dallas Cowboys legendary wide receiver was snubbed from the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Pearson patiently waited for David Baker to knock on his door and last Saturday, it happened.

Pearson will become the 12th senior candidate to be elected to the Hall of Fame, including three other Dallas Cowboys. Bob Hayes, Rayfield Wright, and Cliff Harris all were nominated and selected as senior candidates.

When it comes to the Hall of Fame, it's tough to know how players really feel. Some genuinely don't care if they aren't elected or at least they pretend like they don't. However, Pearson was pretty vocal about his disappointment of not being in Canton, Ohio yet.

But Drew Pearson's reaction to the good news this year is way different. You can't help but tear up at the "Original 88" telling David Baker "you're giving me a chance at immortality."

Drew Pearson was the only member from the 1970s All-Decade Team who was not in the Hall of Fame before this year's election. What he meant to NFL fans can't be understated. Pearson played 11 years in the league and put his signature on plenty of iconic moments in pro football history.

He's not only the "Original 88." He's also the wide receiver who caught the original Hail Mary in the 1975 divisional round. It's a play that will always be remembered, and one of the biggest moments in Dallas Cowboys history.

The Cowboys have made sure to honor it in their headquarters in The Star:

"Thus in The Star's three-floor marbled staircase in the middle of the building, the Cowboys, with the help of Advent, the company that designed the interior decorations of the team's history, came up with this idea of hanging down the middle a frame-by-frame series of photos of the Hail Mary play. Thirty-six frames in all, the pictures starting with Staubach taking the snap and ending with Pearson in the end zone all in step-by-step succession."

Drew Pearson joins a loaded Hall of Fame Class of 2021, including Tom Flores, Calvin Johnson, and Peyton Manning.

John Madden used to say when the lights are turned off in the Hall of Fame, the busts talk to each other. Pretty soon, Pearson will get to talk with the other 19 members of the Dallas Cowboys.

It was a long wait for the Original 88. But justice has finally been made.
