The Dallas Cowboys have done such a great job over the past 15 years with finding talent and diamond in the roughs with undrafted free agents.

For example, second-year tackle Terence Steele has been the talk as one of the most improved players from their rookie year.

He was forced to start last year due to an injury to La'el Collins, who missed the entire year.

Now in his sophomore season, he has drastically improved, and here are two ways he has been able to play at a high level.

Coaching from Joe Philbin

Offensive line coach Joe Philbin has been the unsung hero in the way how he's been working with Steele since last year.

Many fans and critics were terrified last season when the reports came that Steele would be the starting tackle.

Even with all of the negatives, Philbin and head coach Mike McCarthy stuck with their decision when no one else agreed.

Since the start of the season, Steele has looked like a savvy veteran playing at right tackle

That has a lot to do with the help of Philbin and his one-on-one coaching.

He was the one that brought Steele on the roster and been his mentor ever since.

Credit goes to coach Philbin for a tremendous job working with Steele in the offseason.

Taking in knowledge from the veterans

The second factor has been with the help and knowledge from All-Pro linemen Tyron Smith and Zach Martin.

With Steele working with them in practice, he can pick up on different techniques and add them to his game.

It is one thing to receive the knowledge and another to put it to good use.

Steele has taken the lessons and shown action on gameday's each week.

His development helps the team as he is not costing the Cowboys much for the next two and half years.

plus adds depth on the o-line.

What is next?

Collins, who will play as the starting right tackle, will likely remain there for the year, barring any setbacks.

Steele will start at left tackle as Smith is nursing an ankle injury.

Once he makes it back, he will move to swing tackle which was supposed to be his original position.

As long as Steele continues to develop and perform, that will help the Cowboys to keep winning games.
