The fact the Dallas Cowboys are not even at their best on both sides of the ball just leaves you with an anxious feeling.
There are still a few players that have missed time but are close to returning.
One of those players is fourth-year wide out Michael Gallup, who has been sidelined for over a month with a calf strain injury.
With him out of the lineup, the Cowboys are sitting at 5-1 and the offense is averaging 34.2 points through the first six games.
It has been confirmed by Dallas media and reporters that Gallup will be returning to practice and off of the IR list this week.
With him back in the fold, let's see how Gallup can make this lethal offensive attack more dominant.
Open up the deep passing game
Even though Quarterback Dak Prescott has been killing it this year with his passing, we have not quite seen the 30+ yard bombs that often.
This has to do with Gallup, who has been the team's deep threat receiver when he has been on the field.
In Gallup's career, he has averaged 15.4 yards per catch, which is currently the highest on the team.
Gallup returning will allow Amari Cooper to work the underneath and CeeDee Lamb takes the intermediate routes.
He will be able to work down the field to pick up the big chunk yards.
Over the second half of the season, Dallas will need Gallup's downfield ability when games get tighter and tougher.
Will allow Cooper and Lamb to rotate spots
Cooper and Lamb have primarily played the X and Z spots while Cedrick Wilson plays in the slot.
Even though all three have been producing, Gallup will allow Lamb to dominate in the slot while Cooper shuffles both inside and out.
Gallup draws attention from the opposing cornerback plus a safety while Lamb and Cooper can get those opportunities to move the chains.
Once defenses adjust to defend both Cooper and Lamb, Prescott then looks downfield to Gallup for a deep pass.
These will be the types of plays that Gallup will be able to bring to the offense once he returns.
We thought the Cowboys' offensive attack through the first six games was something to watch, but they have yet to play a complete game.
Gallup will be able to not only bring leadership to the locker room but his acrobatic-like ability is just the extra icing on the cake.
