Prescott has not, and will not, played in the preseason, and he has not participated in team drills since late July. While that certainly raises a red flag, the Cowboys are adamant that Prescott is fully on track to play week one.

Week one, of course, sees the Dallas Cowboys open the 2021 season against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the first game of the 2021 NFL year. Prescott will make his return from the season-ending ankle injury that he suffered in week five last year in a battle between America's Team and the defending Super Bowl champs.

Needless to say, all eyes will be glued to the television on September 9.

COWBOYS NOT WORRIED ABOUT PRESCOTT

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones joined 105.3 The Fan on Tuesday morning and discussed a number of different topics. One of which included where Prescott stands with the regular season right around the corner.

"I wouldn't be nervous this morning as to where he is in his recovery. He's there," Jones said Tuesday on 105.3 The Fan. "I'd like for him to have this week of practice just to get ready to play Tampa, but of course we've got two and a half weeks. But the bottom line is he's there."

It is not extremely alarming to hold Prescott out of preseason action. There is little benefit to playing a franchise quarterback in games that, frankly, do not matter. The Bills are holding out Josh Allen, for example.

Though he did not play on Saturday, Prescott did throw more than 50 passes prior to the Cowboys' game versus the Texans. Prescott completed all but one pass, and he showed the ability to push the ball down the field accurately. That certainly provided some relief regarding his shoulder.

The plan, it appears, is for Prescott to begin ramping things up in practice this week before going through practice regularly following the conclusion of the preseason. Dallas opens the season against the defending Super Bowl champions in just over two weeks.

Jerry Jones is one of several people around the Dallas Cowboys that do not appear to be the least bit concerned about Dak Prescott being 100-percent for the opener.
