The Dallas Cowboys have one of the best defenses in football. After leading the NFL with 31 turnovers a season ago, the Cowboys are tied for the fifth-most in 2022 and lead the league in sacks with 45.

Dallas has struggled in one area, stopping the run. Currently, the Cowboys are 24th in the NFL against the run. However, over the last few weeks, things have started to take shape for the Cowboys in this category.

The Bears and Packers each ran for over 200 yards against the Cowboys in back-to-back games. Since then, the Cowboys have given up just 163 yards (81.5 yards per game) on the ground.

When it comes to Dallas, their pass rush is so good that it forces teams into long downs and distances, which of course, lessens the number of times they run the ball. As great as that is, the Cowboys become vulnerable defensively when they can't get to the quarterback, so turning things around versus the run is key.

The Cowboys' run defense will be tested in the final six games. The Eagles and Jaguars both rank in the top 10 in team rushing yards. Also, Dallas has to deal with Derrick Henry of the Titans and Jonathan Taylor of the Colts who both rank in the top 10 in individual rushing yards.

As challenging as this stretch will be for the Cowboys to stop the run, it comes at a great time as the push postseason is in full effect. One thing that travels in the playoffs is a good defense, especially when a team can stop the run.

Dallas has high expectations when it comes to the postseason play, so getting their run defense to be consistent will make them an even bigger threat in the NFC.
