The linebacker position when it comes to the Dallas Cowboys has a lot of unknowns to it. Yes, re-signed Leighton Vander Esch, but with no real experience in Dallas at the linebacker spot outside him and Damone Clark, the Cowboys could stand to add another piece.

Tuesday provides an opportunity to do that. Devin White, who was drafted in the first round of the 2019 NFL draft, has requested a trade from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

White would burst onto the scene with a very productive rookie campaign with 91 tackles, 2.5 sacks, an interception, three forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries, three pass breakups, and two defensive touchdowns.

When the Buccaneers put it all together and won the Super Bowl in 2020, White was spectacular. He amassed a career-high 140 tackles (15 tackles for loss), nine sacks, a forced fumble, a fumble, and four pass breakups which led to second-team All-Pro honors.

White has continued to be one of the better linebackers in the NFL over the past two seasons. He's tallied over 120 tackles in each along with nine total sacks, two forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries, and 34 quarterback hits.

The fifth-year option on White was picked up by the Buccaneers last April which will pay him $11.7 million in 2023. However, White's trade request is certainly not just to find a better situation, he wants his first lucrative payday.

White has not only been a good player since entering the league but he's been highly durable as well playing in 62 (all starts) out of a possible 65 games and logging just under 4,000 defensive snaps.

The Cowboys may not be willing to pay what White wants which would probably be somewhere near $100 million on a long-term deal, or at least not right now. However, they should at least pick up the phone and enquire what it would take to get him, a
