When it comes to the Dallas Cowboys there's a microscope on everything they do or say. Trevon Diggs, the Cowboys' top cornerback, knows that as well as anyone as he shut down his Twitter account during the summer after he was harshly criticized for a few bad practice reps.

Against the Los Angles Rams on Sunday, Diggs gave up a couple of huge plays that directly impacted the 10 points the Cowboys allowed. Diggs tweeted his pleasure with the team's fourth consecutive win, but he also took responsibility for his shortcomings.

The Cowboys were clinging to a 9-0 lead in the first quarter. Rams' quarterback Matthew Stafford found wide receiver TuTu Atwell for a big 54-yard gain that led to a field goal. Diggs had excellent coverage on the play, but as they say, there's no defense for a perfect throw.

With just under 10 minutes left before halftime, Diggs found himself in the slot against Cooper Kupp and was beaten on a crossing route for a 75-yard touchdown that put the Rams up 10-9.

Playing the cornerback position is quite possibly the hardest in the NFL and even the best give up plays, it happens. That's not to say that Diggs isn't having a good year because he is. His nine passes defended are tops in the league through five games and his two interceptions are tied for third.

Diggs showed that he can match up with the best receivers in the NFL in Week 2 when he went up against Ja'Marr Chase of the Cincinnati Bengals. The former second-round pick held Chase to just two receptions for 14 yards. Also, Diggs made back-to-back tackles that forced a punt late in the fourth quarter, and the Cowboys won on a last-second field goal by Brett Maher.

Couple that with his game-sealing interception against the New York Giants and only allowing one reception in Week 4 versus the Washington Commanders, Diggs is still proving his worth as one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL in 2022 and the fact that he's willing to take accountability for his mistakes shows his maturity as a player.
