Rookie defender Micah Parsons got a special opportunity last Sunday for the Dallas Cowboys. For the first time in four years, he got to play defensive end. Not only did he play it, but he also excelled at it. Of course, that's really good news for Dallas after the loss of star DE Demarcus Lawrence.

Getting eight QB pressures in a single game is an impressive feat. It's even more impressive when you haven't played as an edge rusher in almost half a decade. Not to mention, it was his second NFL football game.

Parsons is transitioning to the speed of the pro game quickly. There are always rookie slip-ups, especially as a linebacker, but this versatility is extremely valuable. It takes pressure off of the other pieces of the defensive line as well as the secondary. Even offensive weapons are noticing.

Anytime you are being mentioned in the same statistic as Nick Bosa in his rookie year, you can know it is going well. In 2019, rookie Bosa had nine sacks, sixteen tackles for loss, and 25 QB hits. These are great numbers for a rookie rusher, so Parsons may not hit them as he will still rotate some between defensive end and linebacker. Regardless, it is clear that the talent that Parsons possesses even this early in his career.

Going forward, it is hard to speculate exactly how much Dallas will play Parsons on the edge, but he proved to be valuable there in Week 2. Matchups may play a big role, too.

Either way, you'll notice #11 for the Cowboys on the field.
