CeeDee Lamb enters the 2022 season with big expectations for the Dallas Cowboys. Lamb is now clearly the No. 1 target in the Cowboys' offense, putting a decent amount of pressure and weight on his shoulders.
Lamb has shown glimpses and flashes of being a top wideout in the league. His acrobatic catches, body control, and playmaking ability are all impressive. He has shown the ability to be a go-to option in the passing attack with Dak Prescott throwing the ball.
That said, Lamb has not yet played a season as the true No. 1 option. Amari Cooper has held that role since Lamb was drafted in 2020. Now, Cooper is off to the Browns, opening the door for Lamb to step into that role.
The Pro Bowl wideout will have a lot more attention on him in 2022. That is especially true with Michael Gallup expected to miss the first month of the season. Lamb will need to figure out how to be the guy that defenses focus on in the NFL.
National media expects Lamb to be most improved in NFL
Good Morning Football had a segment on NFL Network on Thursday. The question was who will be the most improved player in the NFL for next season. NFL analyst Will Selva went with CeeDee Lamb.
"He's coming off a very solid season — eleven-hundred receiving yards. But, he struggled with drops. He had just one catch in that playoff loss against the 49ers. Jerry didn't make that pick off his yacht and give him 88 for that," Selva said. "The pressure is on a little bit. CeeDee is keenly aware of this opportunity to be the Cowboys' No. 1 receiver. It seems like he's ready for the challenge."
CeeDee Lamb was an alpha at the college level with Oklahoma. He has shown us that he can be relied on in big moments — like the game-winning touchdown against the Patriots at Gillette Stadium. The problem has been consistency.
Still, the Cowboys are very high on what Lamb brings to the table. Jerry Jones mentioned that he thinks Lamb will be an upgrade over Cooper as the top option. Dak Prescott wants Lamb to be his receiver for the rest of his career.
2022 will be a big season for CeeDee Lamb and the Dallas Cowboys. It appears that he is ready for his moment to be the guy for Dallas.
