The Cowboys have one of the better cornerbacks in the NFL in Trevon Diggs. No one would know it considering the vitriol he's received. Outlets such as Pro Football Focus have tried to paint the picture that Diggs is nothing more than a lucky risk taker that gives up tons of yardage, and not the first-team All-Pro that he was in 2021.

Even fans of the league have joined in the bashing of Diggs to the point that the former second-round pick took a hiatus from social media due to the constant negative remarks regarding him getting beat in practice, although he's having an excellent camp. However, on the annual NFL Top 100 list, Diggs came in at No. 23, making him the highest-ranked member of the Cowboys thus far.

Coral Smith on Diggs:

"Quite simply, Diggs is this high on the list because in a league where teams often thrive in the passing game, he is a player that is well-equipped to stop it in its tracks. Diggs is only in his second season with the Cowboys, but the young stud is already making a name for himself as one of the best cornerbacks in the game. He recorded 11 interceptions and two defensive touchdowns last season, both best in the league, and the first of those statistics is what really makes him special. The last time any player had at least 11 interceptions was in 1981, making Diggs’ performance in 2021 truly once in a generation."

The NFL Top 100 list isn't put together by league analysts or columnists. This is something that the players vote on, the men who know what it takes to perform at a high level on the NFL stage. That's the highest compliment any player can get, the respect of his peers, and the league has let it he known what they think of the Cowboys' top cornerback.

Their feelings are more than warranted. After some early struggles in his rookie campaign in 2020, and a broken foot that cost him four games, Diggs snagged three interceptions in the final five games. Last season, Diggs hauled in an interception in each of the Cowboys' first six games (seven total) and his 11 on the year made him just the second player to record double-digit interception season since 2007 (Xavien Howard, 2020).

Want further proof Diggs is as good as his peers say?

Diggs converted from playing wide receiver and safety to being a full-time cornerback in 2017, his sophomore year at Alabama. He reached third-team All-American and first-team All-SEC status by his final collegiate season in 2019, and has elevated his game to the All-Pro level in just two seasons in league.

Every player in the NFL has flaws to their game, not just Diggs. The way the shortcomings of Diggs have been magnified this offseason have been sillly and thankfully his peers have spoken on it.
