It has been a while since the Dallas Cowboys played on Championship Weekend. The team has made it to the Divisional Round of the NFL Playoffs twice in the Dak Prescott era, but the Cowboys have failed to advance further.
While the Dallas Cowboys are sitting at home this postseason following a disappointing and injury-riddled 2020 season, a former member of the team will be playing for a spot in the Super Bowl for the first time in their career.
Saturday night's AFC Divisional Round showdown featured the Baltimore Ravens traveling to play the Buffalo Bills in a matchup of young, talented quarterbacks in Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen. The bigger storyline, at least for Dallas Cowboys fans, was Dez Bryant being on one sideline with Cole Beasley on the other.
Cole Beasley, Bills are headed to AFC Championship.
At the end of the four quarters, it was Cole Beasley and the Buffalo Bills that came out victorious. The Bills clinched their first appearance in the AFC title game since 1993. It is Beasley's first chance playing on the stage in his career.
Beasley did not have a loud performance for the Bills on Saturday, but he had a pretty productive season from the slot in Buffalo. The former Dallas Cowboys wideout recorded 967 yards and four touchdowns on 82 catches in 2020, earning All-Pro votes. It is great to see Bease thriving in a new environment and getting the opportunity to play on a big stage.
Meanwhile, Dez Bryant was signed to the Baltimore Ravens in the middle of the season — his first time being on an NFL roster since being cut by the New Orleans Saints in 2018. Bryant finished the 2020 season with six catches for 47 yards and two touchdown grabs. Dez is a fan favorite in Dallas Cowboys world, and it was awesome to see him back on the field this year.
Cole Beasley and the Bills now await to see who wins the Kansas City Chiefs and Cleveland Browns matchup, as they will take on the victor in next week's AFC Championship Game for a spot in Super Bowl LV. With the Dallas Cowboys sitting at home, don't be surprised to see many fans rooting for Beasley to win a ring.
