The Dallas Cowboys don't usually make splash moves in the offseason, they focus more so on the NFL Draft. However, it's been a little different this year.
Dallas had needs at cornerback and wide receiver, but instead of waiting until the draft, they traded for Stephon Gilmore and Brandin Cooks giving them veteran pieces who will come in and contribute immediately. But could the Cowboys use more?
Well, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, there's one more player that Dallas should bring on board.
"I'm gonna go, Cowboys, they might as well put this over the top," Fowler said on Monday. "The NFC East is loaded. I know they traded for Brandin Cooks this offseason but he's a bit of a niche player as far as a vertical threat. They have CeeDee Lamb who's the No.1, Hopkins can be that 1a. It'd be the perfect three-man rotation for Dak Prescott along with Michael Gallup as a fourth option.
"The Cowboys have an elite defense. They got 20 deep there, they can win games on that side of the ball. You just need to be able to stretch the field enough while Dak Prescott doesn't turn the ball over. Well, why not throw to one of the players who has the best hands in the game?"
It's not like Hopkins hasn't made it known that he had a desire to play for the Cowboys.
While he was in Dallas with Dez Bryant, the Cowboys all-time leader in receiving touchdowns, Hopkins said this.
"I keep hearing y'all say my name around here. What's up? Talk to me," said Hopkins back in March.
He was still under contract with the Arizona Cardinals at the time, but Hopkins was released last week. So, here's fair game for any team who wants to enquire about his services.
Hopkins mentioned that he'd be willing to work with the Cowboys on a deal (was set to make over $19 million in 2023). So, we'll just have to wait and see what Dallas wants to do, but it wouldn't hurt to explore it.
