The Dallas Cowboys are still chasing that elusive sixth Super Bowl title. However, they're in a better position these days to accomplish it than they were 10-15 years ago. That's thanks to a well-put-together roster by team owner Jerry Jones, COO Stephen Jones, and Vice President of Player Personnel Will McClay.

One area that they've been able to nail was given a lot of praise on Monday.

ESPN writer Mike Clay put out his list of the top wide receiver units in the NFL. Coming in at No.5 was the Cowboys.

The top guy of the group and the main reason for this ranking is, of course, CeeDee Lamb.

Lamb had to show how good he was right out of the gate as a rookie not just because he was a first-round pick but because quarterback Dak Prescott would miss 11 games. All he did was racked up 935 yards and five scores while playing with several quarterbacks.

Over the last two seasons, Lamb has further cemented himself as one of the best receivers in the NFL with consecutive 1,000-yard campaigns, multiple Pro Bowl nods, and an All-Pro honor, and he's done so terrorizing defenses from the slot as well as the outside.

The addition of Brandin Cooks also bolstered this ranking for the Cowboys. Even as he heads into his 10th season, Cooks still possesses top-end speed and can stretch defenses horizontally or vertically. He's primarily an outside guy, but Cooks also has plenty of experience in the slot. So, this allows the Cowboys to attack in a variety of ways.

Michael Gallup came back from a torn ACL last season, and it was clear early on that it was a bit premature. When the 2023 season kicks off, Gallup will be over a year and a half removed from his injury and should be back to making fantastic contested and sideline catches while also being a threat over the middle and deep. His health takes the group to another level.

Jalen Tolbert was taken in the third round in 2022, and things didn't go as planned for him. Tolbert only logged 89 offensive snaps and caught two passes for 12 yards. However, Tolbert recently discussed how his tough rookie year was the best thing for him, and with his ability to play every position at receiver, there's no telling the heights the entire group can reach if he steps up.

KaVontae Turpin started out making plenty of plays last year during preseason and training camp, but his effectiveness fizzled out in the regular season as he only registered 62 offensive snaps and produced just 26 all-purpose yards. So, the mission for the Cowboys will be to find a way to utilize the explosiveness and elusiveness of Turpin on offense while allowing him to still be a force on special teams if need be.

Guys like third-year receiver Simi Fehoko, Dontario Drummond, Dennis Houston, and even undrafted free agent Jalen Moreno-Cropper will look to show their worth over the next several months and make this Cowboys receiving corp an even more dangerous group.
