At long last, it is finally NFL Draft day. The Dallas Cowboys are set to make its first-round selection at No. 24 overall.

Most signs point to the pick being on offense, either at offensive line or wide receiver. Both are needs on the roster, and there is talent to be had at both spots.

Which prospect that the Cowboys are favoring remains to be seen. Boston College offensive guard Zion Johnson and Texas A&M lineman Kenyon Green are two players that have been linked to Dallas throughout the process.

However, another name has entered the conversation at offensive line for the Cowboys. A lot of smoke is surrounding who the Dallas Cowboys will take in Thursday's first-round.

Tulsa OL Tyler Smith is possible pick for Cowboys.

A new name has entered the mix for the Cowboys. Tyler Smith, the offensive lineman out of Tulsa, is being talked about as being the first-round selection for the Dallas Cowboys.

ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. sent Smith to Dallas in his final mock draft. Fellow NFL Draft analyst Matt Miller followed suit, predicting Smith to be the pick at No. 24.

Mock drafts are not the end-all be-all, but they do paint a picture of where things could be headed.

Furthermore, the smoke surrounding Smith to the Cowboys is not just from draft analysts. Dallas Cowboys insider, and former NFL scout, Bryan Broaddus is hearing similar things. Broaddus noted that he is struggling to figure it all out.

Value is a concern

Smith is not a bad player; however, the value of the pick would not add up for the Cowboys. The Tulsa lineman is not considered to be a first-round caliber prospect by the majority of national media.

Granted, national media and NFL front offices do not always see eye-to-eye; however, it is still notable. Tyler Smith is ranked outside of the top-32 prospects by several national draft analysts.

Thus, selecting Smith in the first-round would be considered a reach. Smith could very well be a fine player in the NFL, but there seems to be a realisitic chance that he is sitting there in the second-round.

Smith possesses some intriguing athletic ability. That points to some interesting upside, especially as an offensive guard.

With that said, the potential first-rounder struggled with holding penalties in college. It would make sense for the Cowboys to dodge that problem after benching Connor Williams for the same issues a season ago.

To sum up, it is lying season. There will be rumors heating up leading up to the draft. Some will be real, some will simply be just smoke. Right now, the rumors are linking Tyler Smith to the Dallas Cowboys in the first-round.
