One of the bigger questions surrounding the Dallas Cowboys this offseason is whether or not wide receiver Michael Gallup will be back with the team in 2022.

There have been several reports over the last month describing Gallup's return to Dallas as "unlikely". Some other reports, however, have suggested that the Cowboys would like to have him back.

Gallup tore his ACL late last season, so it's unclear when he'll return to the field. But when healthy, he's been a key player for the Cowboys. We saw his full potential in 2019 when he caught 66 passes for 1,107 yards in just 14 games.

A new update from the NFL scouting combine, which is taking place this week in Indianapolis, suggests that Gallup WILL be back with the Cowboys in 2022.

Based on what Pro Football Focus reporter Doug Kyed is hearing on the ground in Indy, he thinks Gallup could re-sign with Dallas.

From PFF:

Godwin tore his ACL in Week 15. Gallup suffered his knee injury in Week 17. Beckham injured his knee in Super Bowl 56. It wouldn’t be surprising if Gallup stayed with the Dallas Cowboys, Godwin stuck with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Beckham re-signed with the Los Angeles Rams.

Kyed said based on what he's hearing at the combine, teams expecting to get a discount on injured players this offseason are going to be "disappointed".

So is this good news or bad news for Cowboys fans?

I think that depends on how you view wide receiver Amari Cooper. If you want him back in Dallas next season, this is probably bad news. It's hard to see the Cowboys bringing Gallup and Cooper both back.

But if you think Dallas should move on from Cooper — either via trade or release — then this is probably good news.

The offseason is really just getting started. Things will really pick up in mid-March when free agency opens. At that point, it won't take long to learn what the Cowboys' plan at wide receiver is for 2022.
