The Cowboys were expected to land one of the top guards or a wide receiver in the first round of the 2022 NFL draft. However, America's Team through the world a curveball and took offensive lineman Tyler Smith out of Tulsa, a player they had minimal contact with before the draft.

Day 2 of the draft will be held on Friday. For the Cowboys, they have a golden opportunity to add a few players that were a part of their 30 visits which the organization likes to pull guys from. Here are a few names to keep an eye on in rounds two and three.

Sam Williams, Edge, Ole Miss

The void left by the departure of Randy Gregory is a big one. Sam Williams has the power to be disruptive at the point of attack (had 32.5 tackles for loss in college) and the speed to get around the edge and chase plays sideline to sideline.

Dallas re-signed Dorance Armstrong and brought in Dante Fowler in free agency. If Williams was added to this mix, the Cowboys would get one of the most productive edge rushers in the SEC in 2021 and a challenger for significant playing time this upcoming season.

Jelani Woods, TE, Virginia

With Blake Jarwin no longer on the roster, the Cowboys need a tight end that can be a threat down the seams to compliment Dalton Schultz. At 6-foot-7 with 4.61 speed, Jelani Woods is a potential matchup nightmare for linebackers and smaller defensive backs.

Woods provides versatility as well. He lined in the slot as well which would give offensive coordinator Kellen Moore more flexibility in his packages. He's also a willing blocker which is something the Cowboys have struggled with at that position for some time.

Perrion Winfrey, DT, Oklahoma

The Cowboys love positional flexibility. Perrion Winfrey exemplified that with Sooners as he played everywhere from 0-technique to 5-technique. Winfrey held his own in practice against some of the top offensive linemen during practices at the Senior Bowl and has multiple sacks in the game.

Winfrey has the length, athleticism, and motor to be a disruptor on the line scrimmage. He would also provide nice depth inside for the Cowboys' defense that already has fellow former Sooner Neville Gallimore, Osa Odighizuwa, and Trysten Hill.
