With Andy Dalton’s concussion in Week 7, the Dallas Cowboys have now lost their top two quarterbacks in the last three weeks of play. Injuries continue to pile up, and their season is seemingly going down the toilet.

Rookie Ben Dinucci could be the starting quarterback for week 8 and possibly beyond. So, should the Cowboys be in the QB market?

Fans who still believe this team has a shot at the division title and a playoff berth will say yes. Others will disagree due to the team's underperforming defense and immense amount of injuries. The unfortunate fact is, that the team is currently not a market quarterback away from contending for a playoff spot, even in an abysmal NFC East.

Furthermore, reports have already surfaced since Sunday’s embarrassing loss to the Washington Football Team that the team is not looking to sign or trade for any quarterback at the moment. Names like Sam Darnold, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Jameis Winston, or Colin Kaepernick are not being discussed as potential targets.

That means, for the time being at least, Dinucci will get the first-team reps while Dalton tries to clear concussion protocol. If Dalton cannot return in week 8, Dinucci will most likely get his first career start in a division game against the Philadelphia Eagles. The game certainly has playoff implications. Not to mention, it is one of the biggest rivalries in the league as of late. Regardless, the Cowboys have a lot more to figure out right now before even giving a thought to the playoffs.

Additionally, there is another sign that Dallas is not in the QB market. They are reportedly trying to deal some defensive pieces before the trade deadline. One of those pieces was Everson Griffen, who they shipped to Detroit for a conditional sixth round pick. As you can see, those players on the block aren’t expected to get much of a return in terms of player acquisition or early draft capital. This points to mostly salary dumps for a team that knows they’re up against the wall in terms of spending in the near future.

The Cowboys are a team that has already suffered debilitating injuries to its depth chart and is struggling historically on defense. They would not look to move any of these guys if they were confident in the present. The injuries seem to be adding up even on the staff…

From Tabasco in the eye to a 3rd string quarterback behind an offensive line of backups, it is hard to pinpoint a team with more dysfunction than the Dallas Cowboys after seven weeks of the season.
