Not only are the Dallas Cowboys planning a busy first round, but they've already told us who they're interested in.
If the Senior Bowl and NFL Scouting Combine weren't enough, the team is covering all their bases. Attending pro days and reconvening with some of the same players they've created relationships with in the last few months.
Through the 30 official visits, we've have an understanding of which players the covets. Even more so when you look at which pro days he coaching staff and the coordinators have gone to in person. It's all even more telling.
Attending pro days are a common practice amongst NFL coaches. They give the coaching staff another chance to catch up and meet with prospects, seeing them perform in a comfortable environment. They can also be good indicators of which players from these that staffs are leaning towards with interest.
For example. Texas A&M guard Kenyon Green has been a favorite for the Dallas Cowboys to be taken 24th overall. He met with the Cowboys at the combine and his official visit featured Joe Philbin in attendance. This obviously gave the inclination that an offensive lineman would be who Dallas wanted to see the most.
Is it a coincidence that defensive line coach Aden Durde was at the University of Houston's pro day, while Dan Quinn was at Ole Miss' pro day? Edge rushers David Anenih (Houston) and Sam Williams (Mississippi) are both official visits whom both these coaches have met.
It isn't the end all be all, but the Dallas Cowboys are showing their hand in more ways than one when it comes to the players they like.
Whether it's been their lack of free agency activity or their common draft tendencies, seeing which coaches are attending certain pro days adds more breadcrumbs to the trail. It's only another piece to this puzzle, but expect some of the draft's coaches's picks to come from these visits.
It's not easy to predict how the draft will land, but it is easier to predict which players are more desired by which teams. The Dallas Cowboys are no exception.
