The Dallas Cowboys are known for how well they can find late-round gems and talent throughout the draft.

Cowboys veteran CB Anthony Brown is a perfect example of a player who has carved out a decent career that no one expected.

Brown was a 6th round draft selection by the Cowboys back in 2016 that featured current Pro Bowl teammates Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott.

Even though he has remained on the team up to this point, he has been on Dallas fans' hit list since joining the team.

Here are a few reasons why fans should give Brown a bit more credit than he has received.

What more can you expect from a 6th round pick?

How many people expect a day three selection to last six seasons with the same team?

Brown has posted 282 tackles, four sacks, and nine interceptions during his entire tenure with Dallas.

Fans want him gone or replaced but each training camp he has proven more than capable of being a starter.

The issue came during two games (Tampa Bay and Oakland Raiders), where he was beaten for a TD and committed four penalties in another.

Cowboys even went on to sign fifth-year CB Jourdan Lewis to a three-year extension, draft CBs Kelvin Joseph and Nahshon Wright in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Even with the moves, Brown still held onto his #2 cornerback spot and played over 1,100 snaps in 2021.

He may not be perfect but he has been serviceable and exceeded expectations as a late-round gem.

Leadership, locker room presence

Brown has now become the Cowboys' most experienced player in the secondary and his leadership has gone unnoticed.

Mainly due to the two games (Tampa Bay and Oakland Raiders) where he committed a combined four pass interference penalties.

Even when he made plays in stretches, the two rough games were a constant reminder by fans.

Brown still ignored the noise and was vital in the locker room when the defense struggled in games.

He has been through three different coaching staff and been around the highs and lows in Dallas.

With his experience, he has become more vocal in keeping the secondary intact so everyone can perform at their best.

Could be a reason the coaching staff gave Brown an extension when many felt he did not deserve one.

The Cowboys value experience and leadership and Brown have done more than the average 6th round pick.

Tine to give him some credit as he has done pretty well for a day three draft pick.

Brown will be fine, he knows the system and will continue to be serviceable as he still awaits his future in Dallas.
