Dallas Mavericks

With the Olympics inching closer, some Dallas Mavericks players will be back in action this week.

That list includes Luka Doncic (Slovenia), Dwight Powell (Canada), Nicolo Melli (Italy), and Boban Marjanovic (Serbia).

First, each team will play in a two-game group stage between June 29 -July 1. If a team manages to finish either first or second in the group, they advance to the knockout round that features a semifinal game. The winner then plays in a championship game for an opportunity to be represented at the Tokyo Olympics in late July.

All games will be available for streaming on ESPN+.

All listed times are according to the CT timezone. 

Group stage and knockout round breakdown:

Luka Doncic and Slovenia first play Angola on June 30 (8:30 a.m). From there, they play Poland on July 1 (8:20 a.m.).  If Slovenia finishes first or second in the group stage, they will play in the semifinal on July 3 at 8:20 a.m. or 11:20 a.m. The winner of the semifinal game will play in a championship game scheduled for July 4 at 11:20 a.m.

Other teams in Lithuania: Angola, Korea, Lithuania, Poland, Venezuela.

Boban Marjanovic and Serbia first play the Dominican Republic on June 29 (1:05 p.m.). The second game is against Philippiens on June 30 (1:05 p.m.). If Serbia advances to the semifinal, that game is scheduled for July 3 at 9:05 a.m. or 12:50 p.m. The winner plays in the championship game set for July 4 at 1:20 p.m.

Other teams in Serbia: Dominican Republic, Italy, Philippines, Puerto Rico, Senegal.

Dwight Powell and Canada play Greece on June 29 (6:05 p.m). Their second game is against Chine on June 30 (6:05 p.m.). If Canada advances, the semifinal game is on July 3 at either 5:55 p.m. or 9:25 p.m. And the winner of that game plays in the championship scheduled for July 4 at 5:55 p.m.

Other teams in Canada: China, Czech Republic, Greece, Turkey, Uruguay.

Nicolo Melli and Italy play Senegal on June 30 (9:50 a.m.). The second game is against Puerto Rico on July 1 (9:50 a.m.). If Italy advance, the semifinal is scheduled for July 3 at 9:50 a.m. or 12:50 p.m. From there, the championship is scheduled for July 4 at 1:20 p.m.

What to expect:

The Olympic qualifying tournaments allow basketball fans to experience the uniqueness of international basketball. And with the Mavericks out of the NBA Playoffs, it allows Mavs fans to see some of their favorite players for the first time since Game 7 of the first round.
