The Dallas Cowboys hold the No. 24 overall selection in the 2022 NFL Draft, and there is a side of the ball that stands above the other as the priority.
Offense is what the Dallas Cowboys must prioritize early in the draft. Both offensive line and wide receiver are the two pressing needs on the roster.
The Cowboys lost both Connor Williams and La'el Collins from the starting offensive this offseason. Dallas has not done anything to address the line of scrimmage ahead of the draft.
At wide receiver, the Cowboys traded away Amari Cooper for a fifth-round draft pick, and Cedrick Wilson left for a deal with the Miami Dolphins. Dallas did add veteran James Washington and re-signed Michael Gallup. Although, Gallup is likely to miss the beginning of next season.
This is where the Cowboys must put its focus on early in the draft — particularly with its No. 24 overall selection.
Why? Because offense is supposed to be the strength of this team. With an offensive-minded coach, a young play-caller, and a franchise signal caller, it only makes sense to invest in that side of the ball.
Furthermore, defensive success varies more year-to-year. Taking a top defender is never a bad idea; however, adding a key offensive piece is likely the better option for the Cowboys to take if given the opportunity.
WHO COWBOYS SHOULD TARGET

Identifying offense as the priority narrows done the potential targets for the Dallas Cowboys in the first-round. It is no secret that the Cowboys would like to add a starting-caliber offensive lineman.
There are a handful of realistic targets for the Cowboys to eye in round-one:
- Kenyon Green — Texas A&M OG
- Zion Johnson — Boston College OG
- Tyler Linderbaum — Iowa OC
- Bernhard Raimann — Central Michigan OT
Green offers positional versatility, with experience at guard and tackle on the college level. Johnson provides plug-and-play ability at guard. Linderbaum is one of the top overall prospects in the draft and is a day-one starter at center. Raimann is an intriguing tackle talent.
Wide receiver is another position that the Cowboys will likely to address early. As for realistic first-round options:
- Treylon Burks — Arkansas
- Chris Olave — Ohio State
- Jameson Williams — Alabama
Burks is the versatile playmaker that is dangerous with the ball in his hands. Olave is the smooth route-runner that plays the role of a deep threat. Williams is the burner that can take the top off the defense with his elite speed.
Regardless of the position, the Cowboys will have options at offensive line and wide receiver in the first-round. Investing in the offense is the way to go for the Dallas Cowboys.
