The Denver Broncos have not had a good week.

Wide receiver Tim Patrick went down with a non-contact injury that was determined to be an achilles tear, derailing his season and the offense's hopes for an extra spark.

However, that may not be the worst news for the organization. Just a little over a week removed from his indefinite suspension, DE Eyioma Uwazurike is now facing criminal charges that stem from his gambling.

Uwazurike, as the Des Moines Register reports, is facing a sports gambling probe by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation. They named Uwazurike for betting on two Iowa State games he played in during the 2021 season. Additionally, it's been revealed that Uwazurike placed 32 wagers on Broncos players and games during his rookie season in 2022.

On top of the criminal complaint, Uwazuike was accused of tampering with records, as Mike Klis from 9News reports.

Uwazuike was hoping to make an impact on the roster in one of their weaker positions. Now, Uwazurike will most likely face a lengthy legal battle. Once again, through the good and the bad, the Broncos organization is back in the national spotlight.

Additional players were mentioned, including former Iowa State athletes, in the criminal probe

With Sean Payton brought in to turn things around, this is a step in the wrong direction. Denver was already under the microscope and that's only increasing with each negative update or traumatic injury.

While innocent until proven guilty, the current state of affairs for Uwazurike does not look good.
