The search for a new head coach continues for the Denver Broncos.

There are a handful of meaningful candidates remaining including Dan Quinn, Ejiro Evero, Sean Payton, and DeMeco Ryans.

Ryans interviewed yesterday. Quinn will interview today. The other two have already interview as well.

From the beginning, Dan Quinn looked like a front runner. He was one of their favorite options last year before they hired Nathaniel Hackett. He’s now back in the race for the Broncos, and that shouldn’t surprise a soul.

As for Evero and Ryans, they are young, bright defensive minds that may get their first go at a HC gig during this cycle. They are both quite deserving.

That leaves former New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton. Payton is one of the most well-respected offensive minds of this generation. His work in New Orleans was very impressive.

Now, he is looking for a new start somewhere, and Denver could be that location.

There is plenty of mutual interest between the two parties, and the Broncos seem willing to trade for him. Accordingly, Payton is the new favorite to be the next head coach for the Broncos.

From DraftKings Sportsbook, Payton is +150 to be the next HC in Denver.

A few days ago, Quinn was the front runner for the job in Denver. That’s no longer the case, clearly.

This shouldn’t be surprising, though. Payton is looking for a ludicrously-high paying position wherever he goes. The Broncos seem willing to pay up for his services and boast the wealthiest front office in the NFL.

It feels like the Broncos and Carolina Panthers have emerged as the most aggressive teams in pursuit of Payton.

The Saints may be more willing to ship their former play-caller to the AFC, rather than keep him in their own division in Carolina.

The next couple of weeks will be very interesting for both the Broncos and Sean Payton, regardless.
