The Denver Broncos just got a huge boost in that RB Javonte Williams will not be starting camp on the PUP list.
Mike Kils from 9News helped break the news, adding some additional injury updates to give fans an idea of what the team will look like as camp is set to begin. Williams, who was fighting to get back onto the field, will be a go for camp.
Outside of Williams, Klis reported that Aaron Patrick, Tim Patrick, and JL Skinner avoided the PUP and will also be ready to go for the start of camp. Klis followed up with an update on JK Hamler and Mike Purcell, indicating that they had been placed on the NFI (non-football-related injury) list and their stats for camp would be in question.
Williams had recently opened up to the media, admitting that he felt he was ready but it was up to the organization on when he could return. Sean Payton will get his RB1 earlier than anticipated.
While the organization did everything it could to add depth at the position by signing former Cincinnati Bengals RB Samaje Perine and giving some players a chance like Tyler Badie and Jaleel McGlaughlin, this is Williams' backfield to lose.
Russell Wilson, recently, had gone viral with a practice after being invited by Deion Sanders to toss around the football at Colorado University. In that session, Williams had participated, signaling a sign to fans that he may be back sooner rather than later.
The Denver Broncos are looking to bounce back after a disappointing campaign last year. Getting Williams back in time for camp to get more continuity in the offense and with Wilson will be huge in their chances to succeed.
Without playing a single snap, the Denver Broncos just got a huge offseason victory. With the trainwreck that was last year, we will take all the wins that we can get.
Javonte Williams says it’s “up to the Broncos” for when he can return to playing
The Denver Broncos are hoping to avoid the injury bug they were handed last season. One of their most important offensive pieces, Javonte Williams, had a concerning message about the organization.
