Tuesday is a big day for the Detroit Lions. It's joint practice time! The Lions will be welcoming in the New York Giants for two back to back joint practices before the two teams meet in their preseason debuts on Friday.
While it's a big couple days for both teams, it's an even bigger day for a handful of Lions. Now is the time where you need to impress if you're hoping to grab a roster spot. Good outings here can lead to good things down the road.
Here's four Lions we think need to impress the most during joint practices.
Dylan Drummond

Here’s a name you’ve no doubt been hearing a lot of lately. Drummond has been a great story from camp so far. An undrafted kid out of small school that only got one NFL tryout and is making the most of it. He’s even getting some national attention lately.
This is a big week for him. Maybe the biggest week of his young life. If he can impress at both joint practices and then have a great game on Friday, he's that much closer to finishing a great story and making the roster. Drummond must show up this week.
Denzel Mims

Mims has looked good since the Lions brought him in on a trade a couple weeks ago, but nothing is set in stone for the receiver. The conditions of that trade with the Jets were that Mims had to make the team. That means the Lions weren’t 100% sure that he could do so.
While ultimately, I think he can and should make it, a bad week here could really put him behind the eight ball and make his status go up in the air. A good week could cement him as part of the roster. Let's see what he can do.
Graham Glasgow

Glasgow is making this team. That’s not really in question. What is in question is who is going to start at right guard once the season starts. Will it be him or will it be Halapoulivaati Vaitai? Both have had reps with the first team during camp.
I think Glasgow is the better fit since he already has experience and a chemistry with both Taylor Decker and Frank Ragnow. Glasgow can move himself firmly into position with a big week against the Giants. Then again, Vaitai could too.
Jameson Williams

Geez. This article might as well be called the three receivers that need impress this week and Graham Glasgow. These are just the guys that I think have the most the gain from this week. Jameson Williams as been a magnet for both praise and criticism since the Lions drafted him in the 2022 NFL Draft.
He can shut up the criticism this week with a great performance against the Giants. In my opinion, all anyone really needs to see is as Jameson Williams touchdown and then most who have a problem with him will immediately forget half of the problems they had with him. Williams can really show this week why the Lions traded up for him.
Why the Lions signing Teddy Bridgewater matters so much
It's finally happened! After months of flirting with each other, the Detroit Lions and Teddy Bridgewater have finally hooked up. In the contractual sense of course. This is big news. It might not feel like it, but this is a signifier of bigger things to come for the Lions. Lions fans didn't feel that way […]
