There's a few things to takeaway at the first glance of this thing. The firs tone is that is unofficial. The Lions could change this a few times before they get to game day. Keep that in mind more than anything else. Still, there's some things here that could be true. Here's four things that caught our eye the most.
Brock Wright over Sam LaPorta
Don't expect this one to stick at all. LaPorta has been the Lions tight end one all throughout camp. Maybe the team wants to start the game with Brock Wright on the field, but I wouldn't expect Wright to see more time than LaPorta. Not sure why this was done at all. LaPorta will jump Wright. Don't worry about it.
Vaitai is the starting right guard
The Lions have gone back and forth with Vaitai and Graham Glasgow all summer long. Neither has really edged the other out. In would expect this part of the unofficial depth chart to be true though. At the end of the day, Glasgow might be better off the bench due to his ability to play anywhere along the interior of the line. I thought Vaitai might be better for that role since he can play tackle too, but here we are.
Kalif Raymond is behind Josh Reynolds
The depth chart doesn't really mean a whole lot when it comes to receivers since there's so much change due to play calling. Raymond should see plenty of targets this season. I fully expect to be the Lions pseudo number two receiver while the team waits for Jameson Williams to get back since Raymond can stretch the field.
Raymond as the kick returner
Lions Special Teams Coach Dave Fipp confirmed on Saturay that the Lions would use Raymond as their punt returner. He would not say who the kick returner will be. Right now Raymond is listed in that role. Will he actually be there on Thursday? That remains to be seen.
Could Mike Evans be a possibility for the Lions?
Normally I wouldn't speculate over stuff like this. I'd just sit back and watch how things work out and keep my mouth shut. You blame Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press for putting the idea that the Detroit Lions could trade for Buccaneers receiver Mike Evans in my head. There's been some drama between […]
