The Trey Lance thing in particular. I never reached out, I never inquired about the player or anything." Holmes said Friday morning. So in terms of of, I think the report was us and some other teams were interested, but I never actively pursued the player so I can't I can't speak to the accuracy of those reports."
The whole Trey Lance thing never made much sense to me. The Lions have Jared Goff, Teddy Bridgewater and Hendon Hooker. The last thing they needed was another quarterback. Perhaps some lines got crossed somewhere. It happens.
To be fair, Russini's report does not state that the Lions reached out. It just says they've shown interest. That could mean just about anything.
None of it matters at the end of the day because Lance has already been traded to the Dallas Cowboys and the Lions are going about their business as we head into Week 1.
