The NFL's regular season is over and now it's time to find out which players and coaches are going to have a chance to be given the leagues biggest regular season honors. The nominations for all the major AP awards have dropped and the Lions are all over these things. The winners of these awards will be announced on February 8th at the NFL Honors award show.  Here's who got nominated.

Dan Campbell for Coach of the Year

This one is a no brainer for sure. Campbell just led the Lions to their highest win total in franchise history and their first division title in over 30 years. A lot of coaches have tried to do that before him and they all failed. This one seems like a shoe-in and you have to give him the award. Buy, you never know with the voters.

Other nominees:

  • Ravens head coach John Harbaugh
  • Texans head coach Demeco Ryans
  • 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan
  • Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski

Ben Johnson for Assistant Coach of the Year

Johnson was a nominee for this award in 2022 and now he's once again nominated. Johnson has become one of the biggest stars in the coaching ranks in the last two years and he's expected to get rewarded for it with a head coaching job once the Lions finish up their season. He's deserving of this honor as well.

Other nominees:

  • Ravens DC Mike MacDonald
  • Ravens OC Todd Monken
  • Browns DC JimSchwartz
  • Texans OC Bobby Slowik

Sam LaPorta and Jahmyr Gibbs for Offensive Rookie of the Year

Both these guys have been electric all year long. They accounted for 20 touchdowns for this Lions team this year and both were near the top of the league in every statistical category for their positions.

Other nominees:

  • Rams receiver Puka Nacua
  • Falcons running back Bijan Robinson
  • Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud

Craig Reynolds was not supposed the be on the field for his touchdown

Improvisation, it's not just for Saturday Night Live or bored college kids. It's for the Detroit Lions too. Lions running back Craig Reynolds had the biggest moment of his career on Sunday night when he ran a 1-yard touchdown on fourth down. Here's the thing though, he was never supposed to be on the field.  […]
