The Detroit Lions have a type. They like guys with grit and they like guys that love football. I'm talking about guys that live and breathe the game and spend all their time thinking about it. The Dan Campbell kind of guy. After watching Missouri edge rusher Darius Robinson talk at the NFL Combine, I came away thinking there was no guy that represented that more among the edge class.

Robinson spent about 25 minutes talking to media Wednesday and he talked about watching film, technique, things he's learned about from coaches, things he wants to work on his game and elements he used against certain opponents. He just wowed everyone that was standing there with his deep knowledge of the game.

Then he said that. I mean how many times have you seen Dan Campbell use the word violent? Not just that, but the Lions love versatility and they love a player that does what's asked of him. Here's Robinson saying he's willing to play anywhere on the line.

Robinson moved from defensive tackle to edge in 2023 and he wowed everyone with 8.5 sacks and 14 tackles for loss in 12 games. Robinson was a big part of Missouri's big season in 2023. He's expected to go somewhere in the late first or second round of this draft. The Lions will be interested.

The Lions have already had a formal meeting with Robinson here at the combine so the interest is there. There's also some connectivity to the Senior Bowl as well. New Lions defensive line coach Terrell Williams coached Robinson there and Robinson echoed what Williams said on Tuesday about being violent.

Robinson also has an emotional connection with the Lions. He grew up in Southfield, Michigan and talked at the podium about how the Lions were his favorite team growing up and how it would be an opportunity to play for them. He also mentioned that his heart weas pumping hard when he met with the Lions on Tuesday because he felt like a fan in the room.

Robinson will participate in combine testing on Thursday and we'll see how much he's able to rise up the board if he puts on a good showing. If he's there for the Lions with the 29th pick, there should be some real interest there.
