The Detroit Lions have added plenty of talent to the backend of its defense in the 2023 offseason. With that being said, the Lions appear to be interested in bolstering their defensive interior through the draft.

The Lions are showing interest in one unique talent who would fill the team’s need up the middle. Northwestern’s DT Adetomiwa Adebawore is a player shooting up the draft boards after testing extremely well at the combine.

Adebawore ran the 40-yard dash in an impressive 4.49 seconds at the combine. He had a 1.61 10-yard split, a 37 1/2 inch vertical leap, a 10-5 broad jump and completed 27 repetitions of 225 pounds on the bench press

Coupled with his elite athletic traits, Adebawore has plenty of highlights from his career at Northwestern.

Adebawore’s versatility allows him to play on the inside, but he does have the athletic ability to line up on the edge as well. His high character accompanied by a high motor makes him a perfect fit in DC Aaron Glenn’s defense.

Detroit made sure to meet privately with Adebawore at his Pro Day to get a better feel of what he is capable of adding to the Lions defense. Most draft experts believe Adebawore will hear his name called late in the first round or early in the second.

The Lions have four selections in the first two rounds of the draft:

  • Round 1, Pick 6 overall (from LAR)
  • Round 1, Pick 18 overall
  • Round 2, Pick 48 overall
  • Round 2, Pick 55 overall (from MIN)

With plenty of draft capital available, the Lions have the trade ammunition to move up at the end of the first round, or early on Day Two, and come away with one of the draft’s most athletic defensive prospects.
