The 2023 NFL Draft is getting closer for the Detroit Lions and it is still anyone's guess as to what the team will do with the sixth-overall selection in the first round.

There is a lot that can still happen over the course of the next week before it starts to become a bit more clear, but there is  a clear hierarchy that exists between the prospects that give the team the best shot to win now.

1. Will Anderson, Edge, Alabama

Anderson would still be the best-case scenario for the Lions in the first round. His production during college and history are just too great to overlook.

Finding a way to pair Anderson with Aidan Hutchinson would be one of the best moves to happen to this Lions team in a long time.

This would be a pretty hard move to pull off based on the fact that Anderson actually has a legitimate claim to come off the board in the first two picks, but a favorable run on quarterbacks could leave him sitting at six, and then the Lions would have no choice.

2. Jalen Carter, IDL, Georgia

The Lions need help on their defensive line above most other positions. Defensive line can be addressed via free agency better than the other holes on the team, but Jalen Carter looks a lot like Anderson in that he has a claim to being one of the best players in the class.

There may be some concerns about Carter off the field, but his projection as one of the best defensive lineman prospects in years could make this impossible for the Lions to pass on if the opportunity presents itself.

3. Tyree Wilson, Edge, Texas Tech

Pass rusher is one of the most important positions in the league. Wilson may not have the same history as Anderson, but this move would lock the role down for long enough to keep the Lions in a position to compete without having to break the bank with two top-tier players.

4. Devon Witherspoon, CB, Illinois

The Lions have a good group of corners, but the loss of just one to an injury would greatly hurt this team in the short term. Witherspoon is quickly becoming a favorite for the Lions in more ways than one, and his ability to help the team with a playoff run in 2023 while projecting to become a foundational piece down the road makes this a great addition.
