Policy can only change in the NFL if the biggest names in the game get behind it.
Detroit Lions Hall of Famer Calvin Johnson is one such player.
If Johnson and his peers are speaking out on a subject, you know the league is in a position where it has to listen, and this subject has been at the forefront of conversation in the NFL for a while now.
Johnson explained on the Pat McAfee Show today that he believes as many as 90% of players in the modern NFL have used marijuana and was able to go in depth on the subject with McAfee, specifically focusing on it as a means of dealing with the injuries associated with the league and needs for new ways to address rampant injuries.
While the topic is still controversial in some states, Johnson has earned the right to speak on this subject after a career where he was very vocal about the injuries associated with the sport.
If legends of the game like Johnson keep giving interviews like this, you can rest assured that a change will be on the horizon sooner rather than later.
