There are a lot of people that are very excited for the Detroit Lions in 2023. The hype is understandable, but perhaps there are some people that are taking it a step too far with talks of the Super Bowl.

While the general consensus is that this season is going to be a major positive for a franchise that needs it, one writer has a different take on the future for this team.

Vic Tafur of The Athletic predicts one fact that would be very disappointing for the Lions based on their yearly win total numbers.

Rather than getting carried away with the win totals like everyone else, Tafur believes bettors should take the under on the Lions season win total at 9.5.

This means that while Tafur still believes the Lions are in a good spot to win the very weak NFC North, the season may not be as dominant as others believe.

Tafur did make some good points. Between a schedule that isn't a cakewalk and some roster decisions that don't end in dramatic net-positives, massive runaway success for this roster doesn't seem like the only possibility.

However, this is a pretty pessimistic take. There is a lot to like about the Lions, and while there were some draft picks that brought valid questions, this roster is obviously better than the one that almost made the playoffs last year.

Tafur recommends taking the under, but there aren't going to be many Lions fans out there that take that approach.
