Updated look at the Detroit Lions' 2023 draft picks
Here’s all the information you need when it comes to the Lions’ 2023 draft
It's been a long time since there was this much excitement surrounding a Detroit Lions offseason.
The team is coming off a 9-8 finish and has two first-round draft picks, one being the sixth-overall pick acquired after the team traded Matthew Stafford to the Los Angeles Rams. The team also has a little more than $22 million in cap space, according to Over The Cap.
The draft possibilities are where the majority of the excitement exists, however. In all, the Lions have eight total selections, but five of them are in the first 100 picks and four of those five are in the top-50 picks.
So, without further ado, here is the current slate of Lions picks in the upcoming 2023 NFL Draft:
- Round 1, Pick 6 overall (from LAR)
- Round 1, Pick 18 overall
- Round 2, Pick 48 overall
- Round 2, Pick 55 overall (from MIN)
- Round 3, Pick 81 overall
- Round 5, Pick 154 overall
- Round 6, Pick 183 overall (from DEN)
- Round 6, Pick 194 overall
The Lions are not expected to receive any compensatory picks, per Over The Cap.
As stated earlier, the team received the No. 6 overall pick when it traded Stafford before the 2021 season started.
The 55th pick -a.k.a. the second second-rounder- is from the T.J. Hockenson trade during the 2023 season and the 183rd overall pick was acquired when the Lions traded for former Denver Broncos receiver Trinity Benson. Detroit sent a fifth- and seventh-rounder to the Broncos for Benson and a 2023 sixth, which turned out to be the 183rd pick.
