It may not mean everything, but there is usually an interesting correlation between successful NFL teams and having players on one of the All-Pro teams.
Key positions usually have the highest rate of showing up on this list of honored players and in deep playoff runs. Quarterback and wide receiver have become two of the most important positions on the offensive side of the ball, so it makes sense that the two quarterbacks on these teams made it to the Super Bowl and five of the six wide receivers made it into the playoffs.
Having talent like this that can show up when it matters means something, and the Detroit Lions need their player with this level of talent to show up in 2023 if they are going to live up to their expectations.
That player for the Lions is obviously wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, and he absolutely has the talent to earn an All-Pro selection in 2023 if he puts together another season like he just did.
Everyone has already seen the breakout that was last year for St. Brown. Fifth at the position in catches. Tenth at the position in total yards. That season was great for what it was on a team that didn't make the playoffs, but anyone that watched those games knows that wasn't the ceiling for one of the most important players on offense.
St. Brown can absolutely be one of the best players in the league at his position. It sounds a lot like the most recent All-Pro for the Lions at wide receiver.
Any chance that you can get mentioned in the same breath as Calvin Johnson is good for you in a professional sense. It is fair to say that St. Brown could prove himself to be the best receiver in Detroit since Johnson, but he needs to get a little more support from the league as a whole to earn these accolades.
Still, if there was a guy on the roster that had a chance to end that drought at wide receiver, St. Brown is that guy. It wouldn't take much either. With Jameson Williams out for the first part of the season and an offense that still wants to score at will, Jared Goff is going to keep feeding his favorite receiver, and that will just lead to more of the stats that voters love while also helping the Lions with a playoff run.
Don't get crazy with the bets yet, but the Lions' All-Pro drought at wide receiver could be coming to a close soon.
