Well, that happened fast. On Monday the Detroit Lions world stopped turning for a few hours after newly acquired safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson went down with a leg injury and had to be carted off the field. Everyone rejoiced a few hours later when they learned that there was no structural damage and Gardner-Johnson would be day to day.
After spending the last few days slowly conditioning and getting his leg ready to come back, Gardner-Johnson will return to practice on Saturday. He will still be in a limited roll and won't be in pads or participate in team drills, but the fact that he's coming back this fast at all is a big win for the Lions.
In other injury news, rookie receiver Antione Green got overheated on Friday and will sit out Saturday's practice as a precaution. Offensive linemen Penei Sewell and Halapoulivaati Vaitai will not be practicing on Saturday either.
The Lions will play their first practice in front of a bunch of Lions fans on Saturday and they will be doing it on the wet ground. We'll see how the Lions adjust their practice to that or if they adjust it at all.
