It didn’t take long for Detroit Lions safety Kerby Joseph to make his presence felt in the NFL.
Drafted in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft, Joseph quickly found a starting role in Detroit’s secondary. He started in 14 of the 17 games he played in during his rookie campaign.
Joseph demonstrated he is a dual threat on the backend of the Lions’ defense. Not only did he register 82 tackles and two forced fumbles on the year, but he also hauled in four interceptions.
Three of those picks came via future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers. Joseph became the first player to intercept Rodgers three times in a single season in his 18-year career.
But Joseph feels like he let a couple more opportunities to humiliate the longtime Packers quarterback slip through his fingers.
“I got him three times, but I’m not going to lie, it should have been five,” Joseph said on NFL Network’s Good Morning Football. “It should’ve been five. That last game, I dropped that first one, and then that second one got called back. Actually, it should have been six. It should’ve been six. That one-hander, on that fourth down or that third down, I could get that.”
Having intercepted what appears to be Rodgers’ final pass as a Packer, Joseph showed off the ball to the studio.
With Rodgers on his way out of the division, Joseph and the Lions are in position to secure the franchise’s first division title since the 1993 season. Detroit made numerous big splashes in free agency and, with the draft on the horizon, the Lions’ roster is only going to continue to improve.
