After some of the confusion with the first round, the Detroit Lions have been killing it in the 2023 NFL Draft. Every day outside of the first has been filled with value, and the same can still be said during Day 3.
The Lions didn't have many needs heading into Day 3 after doing a good job of addressing their needs on the second day, but that didn't stop them from going out and getting an awesome future player in Colby Sorsdal of William & Mary.
Sorsdal probably figures to be a depth piece for the start of his career in Detroit. That doesn't mean anyone should hate this pick. The Lions are planning for the future and the right people are taking notice.
Duke Manyweather, one of the brightest offensive line minds on social media, called Sorsdal "the sleeper of the draft." For those that don't know, that means something when Manyweather says it.
In truth, a quick look at Sorsdal's film shows why Manyweather likes him so much. Size, experience, and a strong pool of talent to be a contributor on the interior (after a college career on the outside) is going to make this one of the guys that the Lions could lean on in the event of an injury sooner than later.
Development still needs to happen before anyone gets too ahead of themselves, but this is another great pick for a Lions team that has needed the help.
