The Detroit Lions have made their second re-signing. This one is a big one. The Lions have come to terms on a two year, $7.5 million deal with All-Pro special teams ace Jalen Reeves-Maybin. A deal that makes Reeves-Maybin the highest paid special teamer ever.
Reeves-Maybin spent the early part of his career with the Lions and then went to play for the Texans in 2022 before returning to the Lions for the 2023 season. He became the Lions special teams captain and had a huge season that saw him getting stops on virtually every special teams play along with playing a big role in some fakes that the team would run.
For his efforts he was voted into the Pro Bowl and made his first All-Pro team this year. The Lions are bringing him back on a nice deal. He should be the special teams captain again next year and maybe we'll see play more on the defense where he played quite well when he got shots.
A solid move by the Lions that shows the young guys that if you play well, you'll get rewarded for it.
