The Detroit Lions entered the offseason as one of the "trendy" teams in the NFL.
Detroit went 9-8 in Dan Campbell's second season as the franchise's head coach.
The Lions narrowly missed the playoffs, though their win against the Green Bay Packers in the final week of the season (which kept Green Bay out of the playoffs) had to be nearly as satisfying as a playoff win.
Detroit has done nothing this offseason to damper the excitement surrounding the franchise.
If anything, the excitement has increased after a solid draft and several key offseason signings (specifically the way the Lions addressed their secondary).
With the bulk of the Lions' roster pretty much in place, it's a fair time to look at how they stack up against the rest of the NFL.
And that's exactly what CBS Sports' Pete Prisco did this week with his post-NFL Draft power rankings.
Prisco has the Lions moving up three spots in his latest power rankings, going from No. 14 to No. 11.
From CBS Sports: This is a team on the rise with a lot of good, young players in a division that isn't great right now. That's usually a formula for success. Watch out for the Lions.
I think this is more than fair. It's not like the Lions were a playoff team last season — they still have to prove they're worthy of the hype.
But based on the way the team has dramatically improved under Campbell, it doesn't seem there are many folks who doubt that Detroit will be for real in 2023.
