It's been a long road for Detroit Lions defensive tackle Levi Onwuzurike. The former 2021 second round pick came to Detroit with some real fan fare. On tape he had everything you'd want to see from a defensive tackle.

Onwuzurike played his entire rookie year and show some flashes of good play that can be built off of, then he suffered a back injury and he has not played a game since 2021. He missed the entire 2022 season and for a long time, it seemed like he might not ever play again.

The Lions got some hope on Sunday when Dan Campbell took to the podium to open up training camp and said that Onwuzurike will not start the season on the PUP list and will return to practice. He will get some reps on Sunday and will be worked into the lineup more as camp progresses.

This is great for the Lions and for Onwuzurike. It would appear that things are finally heading in the right direction. There's still a lot of time and a lot of things to prove though. Can Onwuzurike show that he's over the injury? If so, how much rust will there be on him after missing the entire 2022 season? We'll soon find out. Either way, this is the biggest story of Lions camp so far.
