Well now. It's pretty clear that Madden does not think very highly of the Lions edge rushers and defensive linemen. Aidan Hutchinson comes in with a nice 81 rating in his second year. He's up from 77 last year. The rest of the group is going to be a problem for gamers.
The next highest graded player is Romeo Okwara at 74. He's down from 76 last year. It shouldn't be a surprise after he missed nearly the entire 2022 season.
As for the rest of the edge rushers, hopefully their ratings go up during the season. Julian Okwara is at 71, James Houston is up to 71 from 63, John Comminsky is a 70 and Josh Pascal is a nice 69.
As for the interior of the defensive line, Alim McNeil leads the way with a 73 rating. Then there's Levi Onwuzurike with a 71 rating and Isiah Buggs with a low 68. Rookie Brodric Martin starts his career with a 67 rating.
The Outside Linebackers are all in the 70's as well. Although they've all moved up. Alex Anzalone went from 72 to 73 and Malcolm Rodriguez went from 65 to 73. The returning Jalen-Reeves Maybin comes in at 66.
All told, this is probably going to wind up being the weakest spot for the Lions on this game. Don't look to get a whole lot of sacks from this group. You're going to really have to use your prowess with the sticks to make it happen. Your opponents might run all over you though.
Don't worry though, this is an area that the real life Lions seem to feel a lot better about than the the virtual Lions do. Maybe these numbers will be up before you know it.
