It's here Detroit Lions fans. It's a couple weeks early, but it's here. Jameson Williams' suspension is up and he returned to the Lions on Monday. So what's the plan for him? Are they going to throw him directly into the fray or are they going to ease him in? After Dan Campbell's presser on Monday, it looks like it's going to be the latter.

"Yeah, we just got to see where he's at, you know with football, and this will be his first week back and so we'll take it day by day." Campbell said. "He just needs to come in and I'm not worried about him working. He will and it's just about polishing all the little things and we also know if he does play, he can't play 60 plays, that's not smart. So we can't do that to him. So we'll see where it goes. And it's all about improvement, no different than the rest of the team and every week we just got to get a little bit better. He just needs to get a little bit better and then we'll take it from there."

So there you go. Williams will return to practice this week and there's really no reason at this point to think that he won't play in my opinion. If he does, look for the Lions to keep him on a snap count. That means it's time to temper you expectations. Williams will be playing his first game since the beginning of August. So naturally, you want to ease him into the offense and stee where things go for a week or two.

I wouldn't expect a similar type of usage that he had in his rookie year where you barely saw him. He just won't be out there as much as everyone else. I would imagine that before long, he'll be a full on piece of the Lions offense and then we can really see what he can do. Until then, don't start him on your fantasy team or something.

Lions run defense is on a historic pace in 2023

I don't now if anyone has noticed, but the Detroit Lions defense has been playing pretty well in 2023. Well enough to make you say wow! The Lions defense has allowed a total of 1,122 yards and 83 points in the first four games of the season. That's pretty good. That's the fourth best in […]
